Lesson Overview
This A1 ESL lesson explores the topic “Describing Personality”, helping students use simple, natural English to talk about people’s personalities, character, and behaviour.
Learners learn useful adjectives such as friendly, kind, funny, shy, talkative, generous, patient, polite, lazy, and hard-working, and practise understanding their meanings and opposites. They also develop their ability to describe people using simple sentences and give basic reasons for their answers.
Through a range of fun and engaging ESL activities, students practise describing family members, friends, teachers, classmates, and other people. They complete dialogues, correct common grammar mistakes, read about people and their personalities, discuss pictures, and make choices in a This or That activity.
The lesson also gives students plenty of opportunities to speak about themselves, their friends, and the people around them, helping them build confidence using personality adjectives in everyday conversations.
This lesson is ideal for A1 learners of all ages who are developing basic speaking skills and learning how to describe people in simple English.

Homework
There is an excellent homework task to supplement this A1 ESL lesson plan. Students are challenged to answer a series of simple, topic-based questions and write about their own personality.
