Lesson Overview
This A2 ESL lesson explores the topic “Superstitions and Luck”, helping students talk about beliefs, habits, and everyday ideas about good and bad luck in simple English.
Learners discuss common superstitions such as lucky numbers, black cats, breaking mirrors, walking under ladders, spilling salt, and Friday the 13th, and explain whether they believe in them or not.
Students learn useful vocabulary and phrases for expressing opinions and beliefs, such as “I believe…”, “I don’t believe…”, “It is lucky/unlucky…”, and “It brings good/bad luck…”. They also practise giving reasons using simple language like “because I think…” and “in my opinion…”.
Through speaking tasks, case studies, “this or that” choices, and discussion questions, students build confidence in talking about beliefs, opinions, and everyday superstitions.
