Lesson Overview
In this B1 ESL lesson plan, students explore the topic of personality and discuss different personality traits, behaviours, and how personality can affect everyday life. They begin by learning useful vocabulary for describing personalities, including words such as generous, adventurous, outgoing, patient, optimistic, confident, honest, and polite.
Students then read about four different personality types and complete a range of activities to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and behaviours. They take a personality quiz to discover which personality type they are most like and discuss whether the results accurately describe them.
The lesson also includes career activities, case studies, and discussion questions where students explore how personality can influence relationships, work, and everyday situations. Students finish by debating statements about personality and reading an article about whether our personalities can change. Throughout the lesson, students develop their vocabulary, reading, speaking, and critical-thinking skills while discussing a relatable topic.
