Lesson Overview
In this B1-level ESL lesson, students explore the topic “Are Weddings a Waste of Money?” through listening, reading, vocabulary, and speaking activities. Students practise giving opinions, comparing ideas, and explaining their choices in clear, natural English.
The lesson includes a listening task where a speaker explains why they think weddings are not a waste of money. This is followed by comprehension questions and true/false activities. Students also learn useful wedding vocabulary, such as ceremony, reception, guest list, budget, and venue, and practise using these words in context.
Throughout the lesson, students discuss the costs and benefits of weddings, look at common traditions, and build their vocabulary with key verbs and adjectives. There is also a practical task where students plan a wedding budget and make real-life decisions.
The lesson ends with discussion and debate activities, helping students share their opinions and respond to others confidently.
