Lesson overview
In this B2 ESL lesson plan, students explore the topic of binge-watching and discuss why people become so addicted to TV series and streaming services.
Students then watch an engaging video about the psychology behind binge-watching, including dopamine, cliffhangers, algorithms, and our psychological need to finish things.
They learn useful vocabulary and phrases related to streaming and TV, including binge-watching, immersed, prey on, hooked, tearjerker, cliffhanger, and rollercoaster of emotions.
Finally, students take part in a variety of conversation activities, including TV show rankings, debates about binge-watching, hypothetical “Would You Rather?” questions, and discussions about their favourite TV series.
